AFTER DEATH

The In-Between: A Journey Through Death and Rebirth

This photographic collaboration with Rui Aguiar was born in the rawness of a profound personal transformation, a few weeks after I shaved my head. The act of shaving became a symbolic death, stripping away layers of identity, roles, and illusions—a shedding of the old to create space for the new. It marked my entry into the liminal space of the "in-between," a suspended state between what was and what is yet to come.

The call of the void is that irresistible force that pushes us to confront our deepest fears, to dive into the unknown and find freedom.

The photos capture this fragile, unguarded moment, where the essence of being feels exposed, unarmored, and deeply vulnerable. In this void, the stillness resonates with the echoes of death—not as an end but as a portal to something truer, freer, and more aligned. The imagery reflects the tension of surrender: the quiet mourning of the familiar alongside the hesitant, trembling hope of renewal.

Each frame tells a story of navigating this sacred liminality, where beauty emerges not from perfection but from the raw edges of impermanence. It speaks of the courage to face the void, to allow the disintegration of old selves, and to embrace the discomfort of the unknown. This collaboration is an ode to the cyclical nature of life—where endings and beginnings are but reflections of the same eternal dance.
